The former Monterey High and MPC flanker gave the University of San Diego a speed threat on the outside last fall, averaging a team high 23 yards a catch.
Armstead, who is expected to have a bigger role this fall in the offense, caught 24 passes for 553 yards and three touchdowns.
The senior made a bigger imprint as a special teams player for the Toreros, earning the conferences Special Teams Player of the Year honor.
A former sprinter in track, Armstead was a first team selection as a special teams returner, and was a FCS National Special Teams Player of the Week.
Armstead earned all-conference honors in both seasons at MPC, reaching the state meet in track as a freshman.
