Alisal-Palma hoops

Jose Gil blamed himself for Alisal's sluggish season opening loss seven days ago, its first game in 13 days.
The Trojans were a different looking unit last Wednesday when they dismantled Salinas. Now comes Palma, one of three teams still undefeated in the Gabilan Division.
With only 10 league games this winter, each game is magnified for the Trojans, who have won three straight league titles.
Clearly Alisal answered the challenge against Salinas, with Sebastian Reynoso and Josue Gil-Silva combining for 39 points in the win.
During its current three-game winning streak, Palma has rediscovered its offense, averaging over 63 points a game.
Prior to that, it had topped 60 points just twice in its first 12 games.
Colin Neff has been consistent, averaging nearly 11 points a game, with production beginning to come from Brenden Cannon and A.J. Suniga.
Defense remains the heart of the Chieftains. It will need a committee approach to contain the 6-9 Reynoso, while Gil-Silva has popped 42 3-point goals this year.
Ulysses Mendoza has a made a habit of getting to the free throw line this year for Alisal, having attempted a team high 58 free throws, while averaging just under eight points a game.
