Two teams that put together strong second halves last season are looking to build off that momentum this winter.
Alisal ran off four straight wins, including a postseason win before falling in the quarterfinals of the Division I playoffs.
After a horrendous 0-12 start, which included a 32-29 loss to Alisal, the Padres went 9-3 down the stretch to make the playoffs.
Carmel possesses one of the top all around players in the county in four-year starter Soana Loalatu, who was a double-double machine last year.
Having outscored their two opponents 126-66 this year before falling to Seaside, the Trojans strength starts with Karley Apodaca and Mikaela Aritsa, a pair of returning all-leaguers.
While Carmel was impressive in a season opening win over Gabilan Division rival San Benito, it was humbled by Santa Lucia Division opponent Pajaro Valley.
