Watsonville-Soledad football

Friday's game
Watsonville (4-4) at Soledad (1-7), 7:30 p.m.
Talk about a dramatic ending in picking up their first win of the season, scoring with 22 seconds left in a 20-14 road win at Scotts Valley.
The 0-7 start was somewhat misleading for Soledad, having lost two games by a total of three points. Clearly the team still has pride, picking up its first win after allowing 53 points a week earlier.
After opening the season with three straight wins, the Wildcatz have dropped three straight and four of their last five -- including a five-point setback to Scotts Valley.
Watsonville will throw the ball on average about once every 13 plays. Matthew Barcelo and James Sandoval are the heart of the offense, combining for over 1,000 rushing yards.
Quarterback Gabriel Florez rushed for a touchdown last week, and bolted 40 yards when Soledad needed 38 yards to keep a drive alive, setting up the game winning touchdown.
Florez still has receiver Angel Olivas, who has over 500 receiving yards. The Aztecs struggles have been in the first half, where they have given up over 150 points.
