With Monterey clinching no worse than a share of the Cypress Division title Friday, it has sealed up its first postseason appearance in four years.
Gonzales can clinch the Santa Lucia Division title today with a win at Stevenson, and secure its first playoff spot in 15 years.
While Carmel is going back to the postseason for the 11th time in 12 years, a win today over Alisal seals its fourth undefeated league season in the last decade.
The Spartans and Carmel are also chasing perfection as the lone remaining undefeated teams in the tri-region.
The Gabilan Division took a turn in terms of title chasing. Palma, Salinas, Aptos and San Benito are all locked in a tie at 5-1.
Palma and San Benito close the season Thursday at Rabobank while Salinas hosts Aptos on Friday. Meaning there will be co-champions in the Gabilan.
Did anyone have Soledad still in the postseason chase?
Seven straight losses to open the season gave the appearance that it was a lost season.
However, two straight Mission Division wins have kept them alive for the third and final spot, at least for another 12 hours.
If Alisal falls today to Carmel, then next Friday's season finale between Soledad and the Trojans would be for that third spot in the Mission. Monte Vista has locked up the second spot.
The Aztecs would sit just a game back. If the two teams finished in a tie for third, the winner would get the automatic seed.
Of course, Alisal can eliminate Soledad by beating Carmel today and clinch a playoff spot in the process.
As for teams hoping to extend their seasons based on points, King City would appear to have enough points to qualify if it can beat San Lorenzo Valley next Saturday.
While the 6-4 overall record isn't great coming out of the Cypress, the Mustangs will receive extra points for having played three league champions and an 'A' league opponent.
King City hasn't made the playoffs in 11 years.
If Christopher closes the season with a win over Gilroy, a 5-5 overall record while playing in the Gabilan Division should extend its season.
