Pacific Grove football

Measuring your program isn't based on wins and losses. It's the progression over the course of a year and the development of your personnel.
When you hit road blocks, how do you respond?
The Breakers defense hadn't played particularly well in the previous two games, having been torched for 96 points in a pair of lopsided losses.
Yet, that same unit put together its best game against the best opponent it had faced all season with a pair of goal line stands in a 14-7 loss to Monterey.
Four times the Pacific Grove defense was pushed back into the red zone. Four times it responded by keeping Monterey out of the end zone.
That didn't happen by accident. Pride proved to be powerful for Pacific Grove, who has something to build on going down the stretch.
Two weeks ago the Breakers put together their best offensive performance of the season. Last week it was the defenses' turn. What happens if both come together at the same time?
This is still a cast of unknowns on both sides of the ball for Pacific Grove. It's also a young core with a big upside moving forward.
Nine years ago when head coach Chris Morgan arrived, the Breakers went 1-9, just like 2017. What followed was five straight years of improvement in the win column.
