Friday's game
North Salinas (3-3) at Soledad (0-5), 7:30 p.m.
Rabobank Stadium sure hasn't felt like home this year for the Vikings, who are 0-2 - with both losses being heartbreakers, including last week's 28-21 double overtime setback to Watsonville.
Unable to hold two fourth quarter leads is the difference between North Salinas being 5-1 instead of 3-3.
The Vikings have got to hold their assignments in stopping the run, having allowed 188 yards to one runner last week. The week before Alisal rushed for over 300 yards.
Soledad used the bye week to start over. The first half of the season has been forgettable, 0-5 for the first time since 2007.
Injuries have plagued the Aztecs, who won a league title last year. Defensively, they are allowing over 34 points a game. Offensively, they have been held to 50 points.
Matt Morales is on pace for a 1,000 yard rushing season for North Salinas. Last year he rushed for 48 yards against Soledad while playing for King City.
Angel Olivas continues to catch passes in traffic for Soledad. Twice he has had over 100 receiving yards to go along with four touchdowns.
Getting Christopher Gonzalez going on the ground could create more opportunities through the air for Soledad. Two weeks ago he rushed for 78 yards against Monte Vista.
