Greenfield-Gonzales football

Friday's game
Greenfield (3-5) at Gonzales (7-0), 7:30 p.m.
For as magical of a season as it has been for the Spartans, Greenfield might be the most improved team from Week 1 until the present.
The Bruins actually sit just one game behind Gonzales, having won three of their last four games, with the one loss being a one-point heartbreaker to Stevenson.
Jaime Soto is 114 yards shy of 1,000 yards after rushing for over 200 yards last week for Greenfield, having scored 10 touchdowns this season.
Gonzales continues to erase its demons from the past, having ended a 15-year losing streak to Pacific Grove, a 14-year drought to King City and a nine-year skid to Soledad.
You can make the argument that the Spartans turnaround began last year with a 28-14 win over the Bruins.
The Spartans have been flat dominating in the third quarter, having outscored teams 75-13. Payton Flores has rushed for 1,350 yards and 15 touchdowns this fall.
Last week Raul Morales threw for 180 yards and rushed for 75 for Gonzales, while Dominic Emery had seven catches for 89 yards.
Gonzales has won the last four meetings between the two teams.
