The explosiveness that had been missing was back as Emilio Martinez chalked up 160 rushing and receiving yards last week for the University of San Diego football team.
Slowed by a sprained knee in Week 1, the sophomore tailback turned a short reception into a 74 yard touchdown catch in a win over Morehead State
Martinez rushed for a season high 64 yards and a touchdown, and caught two passes for 96 yards.
In four games for the Toreros, Martinez has rushed for 186 yards and two touchdowns while catching 14 passes for 163 yards.
Last year the Palma graduate rushed for 1,033 yards and 10 touchdowns in 13 games as a freshman at San Diego, and caught 20 passes for 163 yards.
The Chieftains all-time leading rusher, Martinez rushed for a county record 72 touchdowns during his high school career.
