CSUMB volleyball

A school record nine consecutive wins is special. So is chasing the school record (15) for wins with 18.
Extending it, however, would mean a division title, and that's what the Otters goal has been since the day practice started four years ago for the seniors.
CSUMB will take its nine-game winning streak to CSU-East Bay Friday with a shot at capturing the California Collegiate Athletic Association North Division title.
The Otters have not tasted defeat in over a month, having started this record setting streak back on September 22.
Sophomore Jenna Tobin has emerged as one of the top hitters in the CCAA, teaming up with Seaside grad Anela Visesio to form a dynamic tandem.
The pair have combined for 451 kills this season, with Visesio's total of 225 just 46 kills sky of her career best at CSUMB. The senior is also 20 kills away from 900 for her career.
Erica Chapa has been the heartbeat of the Otters, as the setter has produced 726 assists this season, along with 195 digs.
Defense has been CSUMB's forte as Ashlynne Armstrong has a team high 322 digs while Tobin has 204.
CSUMB and CSU-East Bay faced each other just 11 days ago with the Otters prevailing in four sets at the Kelp Bed.
The Otters are 6-2 on the road this fall.
