Friday's game
Aptos (5-0) at Alvarez (1-4), 7:30 p.m.
Reigning Gabilan Division co-Offensive Player of the Year Marcos Reyes is on pace to surpass last year's numbers for Aptos -- while averaging less than 15 touches a game.
The senior has rushed for over 600 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Mariners, whose closest battle was a 22 point win two weeks ago against San Benito.
Aptos' average margin of victory this fall has been 36.5 points. Offensively, it is averaging 49 points a game -- including last weeks 47-6 win over Seaside.
Quarterback Hunter Matys had nearly as many touchdown passes (3) as incompletions (4) for Aptos through the teams first four games, while rushing for over 100 yards twice.
The Eagles record is somewhat misleading. Two of their losses were by a touchdown or less this fall. They just never got going in last weeks 44-14 beating by Salinas.
Alvarez has found itself often playing from behind, having been outscored 44-7 in the first quarter in its four losses this season.
Quarterback Ben Perez has accounted for four of the teams last six touchdowns for the Eagles, who have outscored opponents 34-14 at home this year.
