Friday's game
San Benito (3-3) at Alvarez (1-5), 7:30 p.m.
Fourteen is a number the Eagles would like to avoid. It's the number of points they have produced in three of their five losses -- including the last two games.
In addition, Alvarez gave up 14 points in another loss.
San Benito is coming off its two highest scoring outputs of the season, producing 36 points in a win over Christopher and 39 last week in a decision over Gilroy.
Stevan Navarro has been a double threat for the Balers with nearly 600 rushing and receiving yards this fall. Two different quarterbacks have thrown for over 200 yards.
Dating back to a postseason loss to San Benito in 2014, the Eagles have dropped four straight games to the Balers, with their last win coming at Alvarez.
The Eagles struggles start in the first quarter, having scored just 14 points all season, while allowing 57. Then again, they have managed just 55 points all season in their five losses.
Five of the six teams Alvarez has played this year went to the playoffs. It is in a stretch where it is facing seven straight teams that went to the postseason last fall.
