Friday's game
Alvarez (1-7) at Christopher (3-5), 7:30 p.m.
The Cougars aren't the same team without quarterback Ben Sanford, who was hurt two weeks ago in a loss to Salinas.
Tyler Davis just hasn't been able to get going running the ball for Christopher in the Gabilan, having been held under 100 yards in five league games.
The senior had piled up over 500 rushing yards in the Cougars three non-league games, and 1,200 in last year's Central Coast Section title run.
Christopher is just 3-20 in four different trips to the Gabilan Division, with one win this fall coming against winless Seaside.
The Eagles are the third lowest scoring team in the area, having produced just 96 points, with 28 of them coming in their only win.
Alvarez has been outscored 85-7 in the first quarter in its seven losses. The defense has spent a lot of time on the field in league play, allowing an average of 44 points a game in its losses.
