Scotts Valley-North County football

Friday's game
Scotts Valley (1-1) at North County (1-1), 7:30 p.m.
You can make the argument that both programs are still searching for an identity. After solid season opening wins, both teams had a gut check last week.
The Condors were humbled in their home opener 58-0 by Carmel while Scotts Valley failed to score in a 42-0 loss to Eureka Senior.
Granted Eureka is 3-0 and has won 14 straight regular season games while Carmel has rattled off six straight wins dating back to last year, beating defending CCS DI champion Salinas in Week 1.
What we do know is both teams are going to try and establish the run. In Week 1, three players piled up over 100 yards rushing for the Falcons, including Jamesley Giblin's 197 yard effort.
Quarterback Brandon Ducusin orchestrated a game winning drive for the Condors two weeks ago in a season opening win over North Salinas, rushing for three touchdowns.
But before the Condors could react to Carmel's charge, they were staring at a 23-0 deficit 10 minutes into the game. Scotts Valley was down 21 points after the first quarter.
I'm guessing better starts were preached this week in practice. Big plays crippled North County last week as it gave up six touchdowns of 30 yards or longer.
This is the first ever meeting between the two schools.
