Saturday morning thoughts

Dramatics: An interception with under a minute remaining by Brent Eastman preserves Palma's 17-14 win over Sacred Heart Cathedral.
Consecutive points: Dating back to last week's win over Salinas, the Padres have outscored teams 72-0 in the last six quarters.
Impression: North Salinas bounced back from a heartbreaking season opening loss with a 39-0 win over Mountain View.
Historic night: It's getting to be a weekly occurrence. But Marina posted its second straight shutout for the first time in school history. And is 2-0 for the first time since the program was established.
Statement: Using a big second half, Gonzales rallied to beat Pacific Grove, ending a 15-year losing streak to their former MTAL rival.
Numbers: Payton Jordan scored four touchdowns three different ways for Gonzales. Dorian Segovia rushed for three touchdowns, including the game winner for Alisal. Kai Lee tossed three touchdown passes for Carmel. Izzy Guizar rushed for two touchdowns for Marina. Matt Morales rushed for two touchdowns for North Salinas. Anthony DaSilva had two touchdowns for Pacific Grove.
