A run of streaks

As some streaks were finally buried, others were extended Friday.
The most talked about streak, accept at Gonzales, was the Spartans ending a 15 year losing streak to rival Pacific Grove.
Of course it wasn't easy. Gonzales had to overcome the loss of its quarterback to an ankle injury, and rally from a nine-point second half deficit to post a 36-23 win.
Palma ended its seven year losing streak to teams in the West Catholic Athletic League with a come-from-behind 17-14 win over Sacred Heart Cathedral.
It is possible these teams could meet again in the playoffs, where Palma has dropped seven straight postseason games to teams from the WCAL.
Alisal ended a five-game losing streak to rival Alvarez. It also snapped a string of five straight 0-2 starts to the season.
North Salinas ended the longest current losing streak in the county at nine with a win over Mountain View. Ironically, their last win came against Mountain View.
As for streaks going in the opposite direction, Marina extended its school record winning streak to six, and its shutout streak to two.
Prior to the start of the season, the Mariners had never posted a shutout in 77 previous games. And they have never started a season 2-0.
One more streak of note. Carmel's defense has not allowed a point in its last six quarters, while the offense has outscored opponents 72-0 during that span.
Palma quarterback Grant Sergent has gone 181 pass attempts without an interception while tailback Anthony Villegas extended his string of 100 plus rushing games to eight.
