Friday's game
Monterey (3-1) at North County (2-2), 7:30 p.m.
One of the Condors two wins this year was a come-from-behind decision over North Salinas, who just knocked Monterey from the unbeaten ranks.
Does it mean anything?
Well, from a confidence standout, yes if you're the Condors.
Yet, do not put to much stock in comparing how two teams fared against a common opponent. The game is about matchups.
Still, if you're North County, you might want to take a page from what North Salinas did and that is cut off the outside, limiting the Toreadores speed.
Because you can't win a track meet in the open field against Monterey.
Quarterback Brandon Ducusin had produced all five of the Condors touchdowns in the teams first three games -- five on the ground.
That changed last week when Lupe Sanchez compiled over 200 multi-purpose yards, rushing for a touchdown and catching a 55-yard touchdown pass from Ducusin.
The Toreadores continue to implement more passing schemes in the offense with quarterback Evans Charles, who is a dual threat with his legs.
Dropped passes have plagued Monterey all season. Eris Hutchins has become one of Charles' top targets. The ground game is still the strength of this offense with tailback Tim Byrd.
