For overall production at the plate, it was a career year for Marc Flores on his biggest stage. The King City High graduate sprayed the baseball around the field, finishing with a .325 batting average in the Mexican Leagues.
The 6-foot-5, left-handed swinging Flores hit 13 homers in just 206 official at bats, driving in 46 runs while scoring 42 in 73 games. Of his 67 hits, 26 went for extra bases.
Originally drafted by the Chicago White Sox out of the University of Hawaii, the 26-year-old Flores also walked 33 times and posted a .426 on-base percentage. The Mexican Leagues is considered Triple A level baseball.
Flores was an all-leaguer in football, basketball and baseball at King City, earning All-American honors as a first baseman at Hartnell College before spending two seasons at Hawaii.
