Joey Russo is currently the No. 1 ranked golfer in the nation for collegiate club golf after winning the regional tournament in a playoff for Grand Canyon University at Palm Valley Golf Course in Goodyear, Arizona.
A senior this year for Grand Canyon, Russo’s effort helped the team win the tournament title by 23 strokes, making them the top ranked club team in the nation.
Russo, who played at Monterey High and MPC, carded back-to-back rounds of 1-under 71, finishing two-under par for the event.
Last year Grand Canyon won the national club tournament championship, with Russo finishing as the nations No. 3 ranked golfer.
