Christopher-Seaside football

Friday's game
Christopher (2-1) at Seaside (0-3), 7:30 p.m.
The Gabilan Division has not been kind to the reigning Central Coast Section Division IV champion Cougars, as they are just 2-16 in three previous trips to the upper division.
Christopher is one stop and two points shy from being undefeated this year, having been involved in two games decided by three points or less.
The Spartans have not looked mentally sharp since falling in the final seconds to Monterey in their season opener, having been outscored 77-13 in their last two games.
Particularly disturbing for Seaside was its inability to respond after being outscored 21-0 by Alisal last week.
As effective as Ben Sanford has been in throwing the ball this season for Christopher with 708 yards and four touchdowns, tailback Tyler Davis is coming off a 200 plus yard rushing effort.
Seaside did a nice job in containing the run last week, but then gave up two touchdowns threw the air to an opponent that had not thrown a touchdown pass all season.
Getting tailback Elijah Robinson in the flow early with the offensive line is a must for the Spartans. That will open up more opportunities for quarterback Tristan Cortez.
