Christopher-King City football

Friday's game
Christopher (1-1) at King City (1-1), 7:30 p.m.
If history has a way of repeating itself, then King City is primed for a big game. Over the last seven years, it has followed up a loss to Carmel with an impressive win.
Five times the Mustangs have scored 42 or more points following a loss to Carmel, with the average margin of victory in those games being 32.4 points.
Of course, Christopher isn't a former Mission Trail Athletic League rival. It's the defending Central Coast Section Division IV champions, spending the fall in the Gabilan Division.
It has also been involved in two games decided by a total of five points, falling by two to Live Oak two weeks ago.
The Mustangs have got to get out of their first half funk. Last week five turnovers helped Carmel to a 42-7 halftime lead. The week before the offense produced one first half touchdown.
Alex Villasenor is coming off a 100 plus yard rushing effort for King City while Aaron Leonard had his second rushing touchdown in as many games.
Ben Sanford is going to test the Mustangs secondary, having thrown for 543 yards and four scoring strikes this fall for Christopher, with Jason Scirigione having 278 receiving yards.
Last year Sanford threw for nearly 2,600 yards and 27 touchdowns for the Cougars, with Scirigione catching 14 of those touchdown passes.
Yet, with the success Carmel had in chalking up over 300 rushing yards against King City's defense, look for Tyler Davis to get his share of carries for the Cougars.
This is the first ever meeting between the two schools.
