Pacific Grove-Greenfield football

Friday's game
Pacific Grove (0-0) at Greenfield (0-0), 7:30 p.m.
As painful as last year's 1-9 season was for Pacific Grove, head coach Chris Morgan has been down this road before.
The Breakers were 1-9 in his first season a decade ago, then proceeded to improve in the win column six straight seasons.
Greenfield hasn't put together a winning season since 2011, and has not been to the postseason since setting a school record for wins with nine in 2010.
Of the Bruins 33 touchdowns last year, 26 came either from the arm or legs of Andy Hernandez, who has graduated.
Greenfield is 8-3 in its last 11 season openers. Last year's season opening loss for the Breakers halted a seven game winning streak for openers.
Former rivals in the old Mission Trail Athletic League, Pacific Grove has captured its last six games against the Bruins.
While a lot of teams have seen their numbers decline this year, the Breakers have 33 players on their roster while Greenfield expects to suit up 32.
Last year the Bruins played one game with 18 players while Pacific Grove was forced to play a game with 17.
