North County-North Salinas football

Thursday's game
North County (0-0) vs. North Salinas (0-0) at Rabobank, 7:30 p.m.
With three high schools and a college calling Rabobank home this fall, the Vikings moved up their season opener 24 hours earlier than anyone else.
Both teams are looking for turnaround seasons in the newly created Pacific Coast Athletic League, as North Salinas was just 1-9 last fall while the Condors were 2-8.
The Vikings, who endured an eight-game losing streak to close last year, were moved to the Mission Division, where they'll have a fresh start with new coach and alum Ben Ceralde.
North Salinas will look different offensively this season with a run first mentality, particularly with the addition of transfer tailback Matt Morales, who played last year at King City.
While the Condors will be playing a road game for the 19th time in their last 21 games because of field and stadium renovations, they will be home for five straight weeks after Thursday.
Landing in the Cypress Division this year, North County mustered just 45 points in eight losses last fall. Lupe Sanchez is explosive coming out of the fly offense.
Both these teams tend to engage in shootouts when facing each other, as the average point total in their last four meetings has been 54 points.
