Mountain View (1-0) vs. North Salinas (0-1) at Alvarez High, 7 p.m.
Big plays were a part of the Vikings arsenal in the first half last week, with touchdowns of 83 and 79 yards.
Overall, though, North Salinas' offense struggled in a season opening loss. While Matt Morales piled up 180 rushing yards -- 83 came on one run. And only 49 yards came in the second half.
As well as the Vikings defense played in the first 42 minutes of the game, they were on the field for a long time in the second half, surrendering two fourth quarter touchdowns.
Mountain View used 120 yards and a touchdown from Josue Ibarra-Prado to beat Homestead 21-14 in its season opener.
A member of the El Camino Division, the Spartans were 5-5 last fall, with one of their losses being a 17-14 decision to North Salinas.
Mountain View recorded four sacks last week, with outside linebacker Cae Cox compiling 11 tackles in shutting out Homestead in the second half.
Special teams were big for North Salinas last week as Eljiah Washington returned a kickoff 79 yards for a touchdown.
Finishing will be a conversion piece in practice for the Vikings, who never trailed until the final 1:59 of the game.
