King City (0-0) at Greenfield (0-1), 7:30 p.m.
While the Mustangs have not won a season opener in eight years, they have beaten Greenfield seven consecutive times, including last year's season finale.
Having missed the postseason 11 straight years, King City went 6-2 after a 0-2 start last fall, winning three of its final four games, including a 50-20 decision over the Bruins.
Greenfield was held out of the end zone last week in a 23-0 setback to Pacific Grove. Daniel Morales was efficient in throwing the ball, completing 8-of-13 for 120 yards.
Defensively the Bruins gave up over 200 yards rushing. Quarterback Dylan Olivares gives King City a little more of a running threat in the backfield along with running back Shea Martin.
Greenfield has to be aware of where Luis Briseno is on the field. Last fall the all-league receiver had nearly 500 receiving yards for the Mustangs.
Last year the Mustangs gave up 153 points in four losses, but just 64 points in six wins. Over the last three years, they are 15-2 against non playoff teams.
