Friday's game
Alvarez (0-1) at Alisal (0-1), 7:30 p.m.
Despite a season opening loss, the Trojans have plenty to build off of, rallying from as much as 19 points down before falling by four to Live Oak.
Erase the first 15 minutes of the game and Alisal outscored Live Oak 34-21. It rushed for 498 yards, with 10 runs of 11 yards or longer, including Dorian Segovia's 58 yard touchdown run.
Alvarez has won the last five meetings between the two Salinas rivals by an average of 25.2 points, posting a 32-13 win last year.
Outscored 158-64 last fall in the first half, the Eagles were outscored 20-0 in the first 24 minutes last week in a loss to Burlingame.
While Alvarez's defense spent a lot of time on the field last week, it did create four turnovers. Mental mistakes and penalties crippled the offense.
As dynamic as the Trojans offense was after the first quarter, their defense gave up 508 yards in total offense -- 399 coming from one player.
Alisal is looking to avoid its sixth consecutive 0-2 start. The last time it won in Week 2 was in 2012 when it defeated Alvarez at home.
