Hartnell-Yuba football

Saturday's game
Hartnell (0-0) at Yuba (0-0), 6 p.m.
Coming off a 5-5 campaign, the Panthers felt like they gave away two games last season, including a 28-22 loss in overtime to Yuba, allowing them to score the games last 12 points.
Yuba mustered just 16 rushing yards last year against Hartnell, but used two touchdown passes in the final 85 seconds to win the game.
If Hartnell wants to put its name in the American Golden Coast Conference chase, it has to improve on the road, where it was just 1-4 last year.
Yuba was 6-4 overall last season, finishing in a tie for second in the American Pacific 7 Conference, behind Shasta.
Two of the Panthers wins last year came against teams that won conference titles.
Hartnell could have a run first mentality this fall with the return of tailback Keishawn Robinson, who rushed for nearly 800 yards last year, an averaged over 18 yards a catch.
The strength of the Panthers last year was their defense, which held seven teams to 20 points or less, going 5-2 in those games.
Linebacker and Alisal grad Alexis Ramos and his 85 tackles are back along with Chauncey Jackson, who averaged 6.2 tackles a game.
The Panthers defense forced 29 fumbles last fall and created 24 turnovers, with King City graduate Christian Olmos recovering three fumbles and intercepting a pass.
