Alvarez, who hosts Seaside today, is struggling to score runs, having gone 16 innings without a run, sitting just 2-4 in the Pacific after falling 1-0 to the Spartans on Monday.
Dating back to last season, when the Eagles went into the final week of the spring with a one-game lead in the Pacific, they have dropped six of their last eight league games.
Yet, prior to its recent hitting slump, Alvarez had produced 25 runs in its last two games behind the bats of three-sport standout Michael Ramirez and Fabian Herrera
Seaside used a gem on the mound from Daniel Sayre on Monday to shutout Alvarez and snap a five-game league losing streak.
Dylan Olivares ended the game with a walk-off single. Olivares and Dalton Rainaud have both hit the ball well this spring for Seaside.
