Soledad's record setting track and field sensation

If you don't recognize the name, you're not alone. Because up until this spring, Noora Hautamaki had never set foot on a track at Soledad High.
In part, because Hautamaki is a foreign exchange student from Finland, that also has a passion and a little talent for track and field.
Hautamaki is leaving a mark in south county, having already broken two school records and a 43 year old King City Invitational record in the long jump last week.
The senior soared a personal best 17-feet-9 in the long jump last Saturday to break former King City standout Denise Cornell's record of 17-7 3/4, attained back in 1975.
Hautamaki's mark in the long jump has her ranked No. 4 in the section behind Santa Catalina's Laura Wong and San Benito's Annie Berger, both of which she beat last weekend.
Hautamaki is also ranked fourth in the Central Coast Section in the triple jump (36-8) and fifth in the shot put (35-9).
The versatile field event specialist has competed in just three meets this year for Soledad. Her arrival has created a buzz in a sport starving for attention.
