Pacific Grove softball

Statement games don't mean much if you don't follow through. Meaning guarding against a letdown is critical tonight when the Breakers host Soledad.
Pacific Grove opened a few eyes last week when it snapped Carmel's 16 game Mission Trail Athletic League winning streak with a 6-4 decision.
Prior to its eye-opening win, the co-leading Breakers had dropped six of their previous seven games to their peninsula rivals, including four straight at home.
A potent offense for Pacific Grove starts with Florida Atlantic bound Danielle Pasquariello, who has knocked in 12 runs, and shares the team lead in hits with Vada Courtney.
Lauren Coppla has provided power at the plate, while Rachel Consiglio is coming off a four hit, four RBI effort against Carmel.
The potential of this lineup is just scratching the surface. Four of the teams top six hitters missed the first four weeks of the season because of extended winter sports seasons.
How far the Breakers go this year could hedge on their defense and pitching. The team is going to ride the right arm of Parker Llantero.
While not overpowering, Llantero has good command of her pitches and forces teams to put the ball in play.
