Notre Dame-Carmel softball

The significance of this non-league meeting goes beyond pride. It's conceivable that the Spirits and Carmel will see each other again in about seven weeks in the postseason.
From a mental mindset, this game might mean more to the Padres, who have never defeated Notre Dame in playoffs.
Carmel needs short term memory today after seeing its 16-game MTAL winning streak snapped by Pacific Grove four days ago.
Both teams have been scoring runs at an alarming rate with Notre Dame having scored 57 runs in its five wins, while Carmel had produced 48 runs in its three previous wins.
Sophomore Logan Riggenbach is tearing up pitching this spring for the defending CCS Division II champion Spirits with a pair homers.
Hawaii University bound Kaeli Bush is spraying the ball all over the field, and is behind the dish for four year starting hurler Vanessa Gonzalez.
Jocelyne Bruno and Rachael Carroll are sizzling at the plate for Carmel, while Kristin Cardinale has driven in a team leading nine runs.
Jaclyn Hyles and Jessica Pavloff have alternated in the circle this season, with Pavloff having hurled the Padres past San Benito earlier this spring.
