North County baseball

As the first quarter of the Pacific Division season approaches, arguably the biggest surprise has been the Condors, who have won three straight after a league opening loss.
All of a sudden North County is in the conversation as a contender. Every other team in the Pacific has at least two losses, including defending champion Alisal.
Of course, the Condors jumped out to a 3-1 start year, then proceeded to go 3-11, enduring a season high six game losing streak. Still awaiting is Alisal, Watsonville and North Salinas.
Last springs record, though, is somewhat misleading as North County was 0-6 in league in one-run games.
The Condors ended that drought with a recent 6-5 win over preseason favorite Alvarez, in walk-off fashion none the less, using a clutch two-run single from George Madrigal.
North County is getting production at the plate from the likes of Shane Cortez, Bobby Devore and Gabe Miranda.
Miranda and Sebastian Ramirez have both pitched gems in league play, with Miranda striking out a season high 10 against Seaside.
