Soledad-Stevenson girls hoops

 Can anyone contain Ambreece Gaskins?
Stopping the high scoring guard has proven futile for two years as the Stevenson senior is compiling over 50 percent of the teams offense in meaningful games.
This is a meaningful game as the defending Mission Trail Athletic League champions will face co leader Soledad tonight in a battle of unbeatens in league play.
The Aztecs have been the early season surprise in the county, erasing a 1-4 non-league start with six straight wins, including their first three in the MTAL.
Soledad, who has never won an MTAL title, has lost its last six games to the Pirates, who have won 11 straight league games dating back to last year.
Gaskins has been a big part of that as she has averaged over 23 points and nearly eight assists a game this year.
Teammate Antonia Malate, who has a golf scholarship to San Jose State, has given Stevenson another option by averaging just under 10 points a night.
Soledad has seen four different players lead the team in scoring throughout the course of the season, including Jacky Saldana, who had 15 in a win at King City.
Xenia Suarez, Daisy Bugarin and Theresa Chavez have been big contributors. In fact, the Aztecs' strength is their depth.
While Gaskins' offensive numbers are staggering, don't ignore her defense as she is averaging over six steals a game.
