San Jose State punter Michael Carizosa was named to the Mountain West Conference second team after averaging over 44 yards a punt this past fall.
The one-time Palma prodigy is the Spartans all-time leader in punting average at 44.2. As a sophomore, he averaged over 47 yards a punt and was a finalist for the Ray Guy Award, given to the nations best punter.
While punters are seldom drafted, Carizosa will surly get a look from an NFL team in the off-season. Enhancing his stock is the fact that the 225-pound senior was San Jose State’s kicker for kickoffs.
