Carmel boys basketball tournament

When head coach Kurt Grahl decided to strengthen the tournament to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Carmel Invitational, he didn't hold back.
The second year Carmel coach has put together a field that includes Central Catholic, Antelope and defending champion and reigning Central Coast Section Division III champion Monterey.
Central Catholic is off to a 5-1 start after going 26-8 last year, falling in the State Nor Cal Division IV quarterfinals to Palma. It will face Buhach Colony today at 3:30 p.m.
Antelope, who meets Aptos at 5 p.m., is 5-0 behind 6-foot-6 Kameron Warrens, who is averaging 18.1 points a game this winter.
Monterey (3-1) features four starters back from last seasons team, including Mohanid Adam, who averaging 16.5 points a game.
Junior Tahjae Ordonio is coming off a 28-point effort to increase his scoring average to 13.8 while Mohammed Adam is dropping in 15.8 points and Evans Charles 12 points a night.
The Toreadores will face Escalon at 6:30 p.m.
Carmel, who gave Monterey a battle before falling 57-52 on Dec. 1, is averaging 89.5 points a game in its two wins.
Freshman J.T. Bryne is not up to watch as the 6-foot-4 forward is coming off a 19 point effort for the Padres. Sophomore Kai Lee had a season high 18 points in his last outing.
