Salinas-Carlmont volleyball

Central Coast Section Division I semifinals
Wednesday's match
No. 4 Salinas (24-8) vs. No. 1 Carlmont (28-4) at Los Gatos, 5:30 p.m.
One of coach Chloe Goldman's reasons for scheduling Carlmont earlier in the season was simple. She expected to see them again in the Division I playoffs.
Goldman also hopes for better results as the top seeded Scots swept Salinas off the floor back on Sept. 8 in three competitive sets.
Runner-ups in the Peninsula Bay Division to Burlingame, Carlmont has an abundance of power and height at the net, starting with Maya McClellan and her 301 kills.
Her sister Megan, who is just a sophomore, has 175 kills, and stands an inch taller at 6-feet. In fact, four members of the Scots stand 6-feet or taller.
It's no secret where the ball is headed for Salinas as Taylor Rose has put up MVP type numbers with 455 kills and 465 digs this fall.
Bound for Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo on a volleyball scholarship, the 5-foot-10 Rose had 23 kills and 23 digs in the Cowboys four-set win over Los Altos last Saturday.
Setter Jennifer Foley has been the catalyst behind the attack for Salinas with over 600 assists while her sister Julie shored up the defense when moving to libero, recording 486 digs.
