Saturday's game
Reedley (4-5) at Monterey Peninsula (6-3), 6 p.m.
Despite seeing their six game winning streak snapped last week, the Lobos still control their fate, as a win tonight gives them no worse than a share of the conference title.
Where it could effect MPC is in hosting a bowl game. Co-leading Merced is 8-1 overall, with that one loss coming from the Lobos.
MPC was held to a season low 10 points by rival Hartnell last week, failing to score in the second half.
Reedley's three conference losses are by a total of 13 points to three teams with bowl aspirations, including last weeks 27-22 loss to reigning conference co-champion West Hills.
The issue for the Tigers has been taking care of the ball. They have turned it over 29 times, and are minus 11 in turnover ratio.
Quarterback Randall Johnson is a duel threat for Reedley, having thrown for nearly 1,300 yards and rushed for 479, either throwing or rushing for 23 touchdowns this year
Freshman tailback Hunter Nye needs 70 yards to rush for 1,000 on the season for the Lobos, while Hunter Raquest needs 89 yards for 2,000 passing yards.
MPC has four players with 20 or more receptions, including Nye. Monterey grad Michael Armstead has a team leading 35 catches for 531 yards.
Dylan Beechum has a team leading 5 1/2 sacks for MPC while safety Troy Loper has two picks, two fumble recoveries and a blocked punt.
