Saturday's game
Los Medanos (7-2) vs. Hartnell (5-4) at Rabobank, 6 p.m.
While the Panthers would need some help, they can still gather a share of the conference title if MPC and Merced drop their season finales.
All Hartnell can do is control its own fate. A win will go along ways in helping secure a bowl berth. A loss could mean turning in uniforms Monday.
Los Medanos has cooled a bit after opening the season with five straight wins, going 2-2 in its last four games in the American Pacific 7 Conference.
Sohail Mohsini has thrown for nearly 2,300 yards and 19 touchdowns for Los Medanos, with Jelani Davis catching 42 passes for 780 yards and eight touchdowns.
Anchored by Angel Maldonado and his 11 1/2 sacks, the Panthers defense has been sensational this season, holding high scoring MPC to 10 points last week.
Maldonado's sack total is among the top five in the state. In fact, Hartnell has three players ranked in the top 20 with Brian Grace recording 7 1/2 sacks and Matt Wright seven.
Alexis Ramos has a team leading 68 tackles, while Wright, Christian Olmos and Davon Ferguson all have four turnovers.
Freshman tailback Keishawn Robinson went over 100 yards rushing last week, giving him 688 on the season, and a team leading eight touchdowns.
Devon Daich has thrown for 1,682 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Panthers, while J'uan Campbell has caught 59 passes for 796 yards.
Last season Los Medanos scored 13 points in the fourth quarter to pull out a 27-20 win. Hartnell had won the previous three meetings.
