Friday's game
No. 7 Palo Alto (3-7) at No. 2 Salinas (8-2), 7 p.m.
This matchup has trap written all over it. I just do not see Gabilan Division champion Salinas taking the bait.
Programs that are 3-7 have no business being in the playoffs, particularly when you look and see that four of Palo Alto's losses were by 35 or more points.
The Vikings have given up 324 points this year, and are just 1-4 on the road. That being said, two of their three wins came in the final three weeks of the season.
This is not a program that is going to beat you through the air, as it relies on tailback Aiden Chang to move the chains, having rushed for 878 yards this fall.
Since falling to Division I top seed and 10-0 Milpitas in Week 3, Salinas has been as dominating as any team in the section playoffs, having won seven straight games.
Quarterback Brett Reade has thrown for 1,088 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Cowboys this year, and has rushed for nearly 900 yards and nine touchdowns.
Since returning to the lineup in Week 4, Jeff Weimer has caught 33 passes for nearly 400 yards and seven touchdowns. Salinas has not lost a game with Weimer in the lineup.
While Palo Alto has allowed 40 or more points in four games this year, the Cowboys have produced 40 or more points in five games.

In the Open Division playoffs where 4 teams from each of the A leagues get into the playoffs as automatic qualifiers you are bound to have 3 and 7 teams making the playoffs. Want to fix this? Or at least minimize the possibility of it happening? Reduce the number of automatic qualifiers from A leagues from 4 to 3.
