Former Seaside High defensive demon Dariyn Choates compiled a college career high five sacks this past fall for the Sacramento State football team.
The 6-foot-3, 275-pound sophomore played in all 11 games for the Hornets. His sack total was the fifth best on the team. Choates also compiled 23 tackles, one forced fumble, three pass break ups and one blocked pass.
Choates has never missed a game in two seasons for Sacramento State, compiling 47 tackles in his career.
A first team all Gabilan Division defensive selection as a senior at Seaside, Choates had 80 tackles and 15 sacks in 2015, earning a spot on The Herald’s All-County football team.
