This weekends football frenzy
Friday's games
 Gonzales at Greenfield, 7:30 p.m. >> Andy Hernandez is on pace to become the first Bruin to rush for 1,000 yards and throw for 1,000. Gonzales posted its first shutout in 25 games in snapping an eight-game losing streak.

Monterey at Watsonville, 7:30 p.m. >> In their two league wins, the Toreadores have outscored the opposition 91-30. Watsonville gave up a season high 35 points in its last game. However, it has allowed just seven points in the third quarter this fall.

Pacific Grove at King City, 7:30 p.m. >> The Breakers have won the last five meetings between the two teams. In its last three wins, King City has forced 12 turnovers. The Mustangs are unbeaten at home this year.

Palma vs. North Salinas at Rabobank, 7:30 p.m. >> The only similarities between these two teams over the last 30 years is they've shared the same facility. North Salinas has not won a home game this year.

Alvarez at Seaside, 7:30 p.m. >> Michael Ramirez got an extra week to recharge the batteries after a 13-tackle, 195-yard rushing effort for Alvarez two weeks ago. DeMarcus Hawkins could go over 1,000 rushing yards Friday for Seaside.

North County at Alisal, 7:30 p.m. >> Andrew Marquez has accounted for 18 touchdowns this fall for Alisal. Winning their final two games should catapult the Trojans into the playoffs. Who saw that before the season started?

Monte Vista at Salinas, 7:30 p.m. >> Two teams that have dominated the second quarter as Salinas has outscored teams 84-14, while the Mustangs have outscored opponents 80-31. Sean White has 15 touchdown passes for Monte Vista. Salinas gave up seven touchdown passes in its two losses.

Scotts Valley at Soledad, 7:30 p.m. >> First meeting between the two schools will likely decide the Mission Division. Tailback Emmanuel Ortega is expected back for Soledad. Throw out the Terra Nova game and the Falcons have allowed just 46 points all year.

Saturday's games
Marina at Harbor, 2 p.m. >> Bailey Schantz has accounted for every Harbor touchdown, rushing for over 1,000 yards and 11 touchdowns, and throwing for nearly 700 yards and three soring strikes. The 47 points produced last week was the second highest total in Marina history.

Stevenson at San Lorenzo Valley, 2 p.m. >> The Cougars have turned the ball over 10 times in the last two games. Stevenson has been outscored 71-12 in the first quarter. Julian Auldridge has at least one touchdown in six of SLV's seven games.

Trinity at East Palo Alto Phoenix Academy, 1 p.m. >> East Palo Alto has been outscored 538-14 this year. Opponents are averaging just 14 points a game in Trinity's two wins this season. All of its wins have come on the road.

West Hills at MPC, 6 p.m. >> West Hills has either won or shared every conference title since becoming a member. Quarterback Hunter Raquet gives MPC a dimension it hasn't had in a while with his legs, rushing for over 100 yards last week. He's also thrown for nearly 1,200 yards.

Cabrillo vs. Hartnell at Rabobank, 6 p.m. >> The Panthers have failed to hold a fourth quarter lead in their last two games. Linemen Angel Maldonado and Sione Fiefia have both scored touchdowns in the last two weeks for Hartnell. Maldonado remains among the state leaders in sacks.
