Monte Vista-Salinas football

Friday's game
Monte Vista (4-3) at Salinas (5-2), 7:30 p.m.
The second quarter has been pivotal to the Cowboys all season. In their five wins, they've outscored opponents 84-7. In their two loss, they have failed to score.
Salinas has rushed for 18 touchdowns this year -- four more than all of last season. Quarterback Brett Reade has thrown for seven touchdowns and run for five this fall.
The Mustangs have struggled in stopping the run of late as three straight running backs have rushed for more than 150 yards against them.
The second quarter has been a strength for Monte Vista as well, outscoring the opposition 81-30 this fall. Quarterback Sean White had thrown for over 1,400 yards and 15 touchdowns.
In its two losses this fall, Salinas was venerable against the pass, giving up seven touchdowns. It also has two pick six's for touchdowns from Hunter Mason.
The Cowboys do get after the quarterback with 17 sacks, a combined 10 coming from Noah Habes and Nathan Martorella.
