Saturday's game
Cabrillo (1-5) vs. Hartnell (3-3) at Rabobank, 6 p.m.
The Panthers have failed to hold fourth quarter leads in their last two games and now have dropped three games by six points or less.
Despite a two-game losing streak, Hartnell still controls its conference title hopes. If it can run the table, it would ensure itself no worse than a share of the crown.
The Panthers have been creative of late in scoring points, as defensive lineman Angel Maldonado has a touchdown catch, while offensive lineman Sione Fiefia has rushed for a touchdown.
J'uan Campbell is chasing a 1,000 yard receiving season for Hartnell with 35 catches for 580 yards and four touchdowns. Devon Daich has thrown for 1,142 yards and eight touchdowns.
What has stalled the Panthers offense is fumbles. They have coughed it up 19 times, losing eight of them, but have remained even in turnover ratio.
Maldonado and Matt Wright are still among the state leaders in sacks with the Palma product having recorded 6 1/2 and Wright six. A Monterey High grad, Wright has also recovered three fumbles.
The Seahawks have dropped three straight, falling 34-13 last week to MPC. They have not won on the road this year.
Cabrillo has struggled in the turnover department, as evident by them being minus nine in turnover ratio.
Terrence Smith has rushed for 608 yards while quarterback Nick Martig has thrown for over 1,300 yards.
