Alvarez-Seaside football

Friday's game
Alvarez (2-4) at Seaside (4-3), 7:30 p.m
With five teams having come out of the Gabilan Division to make the postseason three of the last five years, the likelihood is at least five will again land in the playoffs.
Six might be a stretch, although the potential for six teams posting six wins overall on the season is realistic.
Bottom line is both teams still control their fate, although it might take running the table to enhance those chances.
The Spartans have relied heavily on the legs of DeMarcus Hawkins and his nearly 900 rushing yards this fall. But the return of Elijah Robinson gives them a speed threat in the backfield.
The result saw the pair rack up over 250 rushing yards last week. Ivan Ochoa has quietly thrown for over 1,300 yards, with Roderick Gaskins and Daniel Sayre each having five touchdown catches.
If Seaside is going to make a postseason run, it needs its defense to make plays. Hawkins has seven sacks while Sayre has four interceptions.
Poor air quality forced Alvarez's game at Aptos to be postponed. The extra week off certainly could not have hurt Michael Ramirez, who rushed for 195 yards and compiled 13 tackles two weeks ago.
The Eagles have dropped four straight games, having scored just 34 points. They scored 40 in their season opener.
