Watsonville at Alisal >> Quarterback Andrew Marquez has accounted for 11 of the Trojans 13 touchdowns this year. Watsonville has already equaled last year's entire win total of four.
North County at Christopher >> The Cougars have won 11 consecutive games as a member of the Pacific Division. North County has been outscored 157-14 in four losses.
Gonzales at Santa Cruz >> Having failed to hold two second half leads, the Spartans have been outscored 50-0 in the third quarter. Raul Morales has just two picks in 105 attempts.
St. Francis at Greenfield >> The Bruins need to wear their road jerseys, as they're 2-0 on the road, winless at home. The Sharks have outscored opponents 149-7 in their four wins.
Monterey vs. Pajaro Valley at Watsonville >> Evans Charles completed 14-of-15 for 208 yards, accounting for four touchdowns. The Grizzlies have two league wins in the last 10 years.
Carmel at Scotts Valley >> Last fall the Padres rallied for 14 points in the final two minutes to force OT in a 21-20 win. This year they have failed to hold 21 and 14 point second half leads.
Palma at Alvarez >> Both teams are searching for offense. Alvarez has scored just seven points in its last two games. Palma has been held to 13 points in the second half in its three losses.
North Salinas at Salinas >> The last time the Vikings beat Salinas, current Cowboys head coach Steve Zenk was the head man at North Salinas 2008. Salinas rushed for 338 yards last week.
Aptos at Seaside >> The two newest members of the Gabilan went in opposite directions last week. Seaside struggled in stopping the run. Aptos makes a living grinding the ball.
King City at Soledad >> Three of the last five games have come down to one possession. The Aztecs have rallied from 17 and 14 points down during a three-game winning streak.
Saturday's games
Pacific Grove at San Lorenzo Valley >> Shutout for the first time since 2010, the Breakers have scored just six points in the first quarter. SLV has outscored opponents 69-6 in the second.
Gavilan vs. Hartnell at Rabobank >> The Panthers have been involved in three games decided by 10 points. After allowing 41 points in its first three games, Gavilan was tagged for 51 last week.
Merced at MPC >> The Blue Devils have won 10 straight games. Their last loss came from MPC. The Lobos produced two special teams and one defensive touchdown last week.
