Monterey at Sobrato, Morgan Hill, 7:30 p.m. >> The first 12 minutes of their first two games has gone well for the Toreadores. It's the next 36 minutes that has crippled them.

Salinas at Terra Nova, 7:30 p.m. >> The Tigers have won the last three meetings between the two teams. Salinas scored on its first five possessions last week while Terra Nova put up 63 points.

King City at Seaside, 7:30 p.m. >> The second quarter is where Seaside has separated itself from its opponent, outscoring them 29-0. King City is looking for its first points of the first half.

Watsonville at Greenfield, 7:30 p.m. >> Two early season surprise teams, as Watsonville is 2-0 while the Bruins produced 46 straight unanswered points in a season opening win.

Pacific Grove at Gonzales, 7:30 p.m. >> Outscored 103-21 this season, the Spartans have actually led in both games. Gonzales hasn't beaten Pacific Grove in 15 years.

Burlingame at Alvarez, 7:30 p.m. >> Matt Martinez has already thrown more touchdown passes this year (5) in 80 less attempts for the Eagles. Burlingame has outscored Alvarez 78-7 in its last two meetings.

Menlo-Atherton vs. Palma at Rabobank, 7:30 p.m. >> The defending Open Division I champion Bears played for a state title last year. Last week's loss to St. Francis was a wake up call for Palma.

Alisal at Soledad, 7:30 p.m. >> The Trojans are trying to avoid an 0-3 start for the fourth straight year. Soledad won 10 of its final 11 games after an 0-2 start last year.

Saturday's games
Christopher at Carmel, 2 p.m. >> Coming off an emotional double overtime thriller, the Cougars have already surpassed last year's win total. Carmel is still stinging from letting a 21-point lead slip away.

Trinity at Round Valley, 1 p.m. >> The Warriors scored the first 16 points of the game last week. Then were outscored 29-0. Round Valley gave up 52 points in its opener.

Shasta vs. Hartnell at Rabobank, 1 p.m. >> Shasta has won 14 straight regular season games. Last year it sent the Panthers to their worst defeat. Hartnell was held without a touchdown last week for the first time since 2010.

Foothill at MPC, 6 p.m. >> Four turnovers and minus one yard rushing grounded MPC last week. Foothill's defense did not allow a touchdown in its opener. The Lobos have won six straight home games.
