St. Francis-Pacific Grove football

Friday's game
St. Francis, Watsonville (2-1) at Pacific Grove (1-2), 7:30 p.m.
After four years of playing an independent schedule, the Sharks are in the MTAL's Coastal Division this fall.
St. Francis was impressive in its first two games, outscoring opponents 84-0 before falling on a road trip to Milwaukie, Oregon -- 20-6 to LaSalle.
These are two run first type of offenses with the Sharks having five players that have rushed for over 100 yards on the season.
The Breakers changed quarterbacks last week, inserting sophomore Ben Minik, who completed 50 percent of his passes for 78 yards. He was effective running the ball with 73 yards and a touchdown.
At some point an opponent will figure it out. Until then, Nate Lominario has made the most of his two pass attempts, tossing two touchdown passes for Pacific Grove.
Where the Breakers stepped up last week was on defense, holding Gonzales scoreless in the second half. In their season opener against Watsonville, they were outscored 21-0 in the second half.
