Shasta-Hartnell football

Saturday's game
Shasta (0-0) vs. Hartnell (0-1) at Rabobank, 1 p.m.
Excessive heat forced Shasta to postpone its season opener with West Hills, likely to be made up during the bye week on Oct. 14.
Dating back to last season, the Panthers have dropped four consecutive games for the first time since 2010.
Last year Shasta posted a 10-0 record before falling to West Hills in a bowl game. It sent Hartnell to its worst loss of the season with a 41-17 decision, the most points it gave up all season.
Behind Chauncey Jackson's 10 tackles and Monterey High grad Matt Wright's two sacks and fumble recovery, Hartnell's defense played well enough to win, recording four turnovers.
The Panthers offense, though, is searching for an identity after being held without a touchdown for the first time since 2012, a span of 44 games.
Quarterback Devin Daich is still developing chemistry with his receiving core. J'uan Campbell and Jose Epsinosa combined for seven catches for 86 yards.
Having had a running back pile up over 1,000 yards in six of the last seven seasons, the ground game is critical to the Panthers success.
Seaside product Keishawn Robinson was held to 32 yards. If the offensive line, anchored by Aldo Flores, can create small seams, there will be better days for the freshman tailback.
