Pacific Grove-Gonzales football

Friday's game
Pacific Grove (0-2) at Gonzales (0-2), 7:30 p.m.
I suspect there might be a little dinner wager on the line this weekend between the athletic directors of both schools. Or, at least bragging rights in the family.
Gonzales athletic director Bo Buller's dad is the Breakers athletic director. Of course, neither athletic director is coaching this year.
It's been 15 years since the Spartans have beaten Pacific Grove, which is also the last time the south county school won the Mission Trail Athletic League title.
For a program that has been outscored 103-22 through two games, the Spartans have actually lead in both setbacks.
Maintaining the momentum has been a struggle, though, as Gonzales has been outscored 45-7 in the second quarter.
Dominic Emery has turned two of his seven catches into touchdowns for the Spartans while Damian Acosta is averaging nearly 20 yards a catch.
Pacific Grove will look to build off what it did in the first half of its opener, rather than dwell on the second half, when it was outscored 21-0 in a loss to Watsonville.
