Friday's game
North County (0-2) vs. Marina (1-0) at MPC, 7:30 p.m.
The Condors are trying to avoid an 0-3 start for the fourth straight year while Marina is looking to go to 2-0 for the first time in the programs eight year history.
Of the Mariners eight career wins, six have come at Monterey Peninsula College, including last fall's 22-16 decision over North County, and their season opening 21-12 win over Lynbrook.
Producing points continues to be a struggle for the Condors. Dating back to Week 7 of 2014, they've averaged 7.3 points a game in 17 losses.
In two games this year, North County has been outscored 82-7. That being said, it did take an early 7-0 lead last week when Konan Van Lear scored the teams first touchdown of the season.
Not only did Marina have a bye week to heel some bruises, but it has some momentum after its first ever season opening win two weeks ago.
Already thin in depth, the Mariners lost tailback Fermin Gabot -- a touchdown in the opener -- to an unspecific injury.
If he can't go, the Condors will put their attention on stopping quarterback Will Leander, who had a pair of touchdowns in Marina's opener.
